Kevin Andrews

Kevin Andrews – ACIOB

Managing Director

DDI: 01202 400912

Email: KAndrews@spaceindustries.co.uk

Following a graduate apprenticeship specialising in product design with a large multi-national engineering group, Kevin began his career in the design office of the firm; this led to design assignments with electro-mechanical and aviation businesses including Siemens, Cobham and latterly MBB in Hamburg, working on the AirBus project.

Progression through the 'ranks' from Contracts Manager to Group Director within a local storage equipment and commercial interiors company provided an opportunity in 1986 for Kevin to form his own mezzanine design, manufacturing and installation business. This offered the opportunity to work closely and in partnership with Space Industries, offering both freelance design and project management services to them and to other Office Fit-out companies all over the UK.

In 1999, Kevin returned to work full time at Space Industries, initially as Contracts Director and following his acquisition of the business in September 2010, Kevin has worked tirelessly to promote the business and to increase the range of products and services offered in conjunction with developing the customer base and awareness of the company's unique in-house skills.

His dedicated attention to detail is legendary amongst both staff and customers and his many years of experience ensure that the end product delivered is wholly appropriate, cost-effective and unmatched in its conception, design and delivery.

Kevin's passion for the business leads him to work too many hours, often to the consternation of his long suffering wife and now grown up children.

Carl McCrudden

Carl McCrudden – MEng CEng MICE FCIOB

Operations Director

DDI: 01202 400902

Email: CMcCrudden@spaceindustries.co.uk

After graduating with a Master's Degree in Civil Engineering, Carl has had and extremely varied career in construction; having been involved in a diverse range of Projects from constructing Marinas and Heavy Civil Engineering projects to the Design and Construction of both the building envelope, and the interiors for Office Refurbishments and Fit-outs.

Carl gets an enormous buzz from working with customers to bring their ideas to life and help them improve their businesses efficiencies' and the working environments of their staff.

As a Chartered Civil Engineer, a Member of the Institution of Civil Engineers and a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Building, Carl has a wealth of experience from 'foundations' up, through the structure to the fabric elements of a Project.

Carl is quick to admit that it has taken him 20 years to finish his apprenticeship in the construction industry, as there is the need to gather such a range of skills and a depth of knowledge to make informed decisions, especially when it comes to the conceptual design and developing specifications for Projects.

Carl says “Being a director at Space Industries is a fantastic experience; where we all work as a team, all striving to deliver the highest standards of quality in terms of product and service, and actually seeing the results of this. This is a refreshing change after many years of managing at executive level in larger businesses that were totally driven by profit.”

David Wilkins

David Wilkins – MCIOB

Commercial Director

DDI: 01202 400913

Email: DWilkins@spaceindustries.co.uk

In 1972 David, having come from a building 'family' background joined the industry, gaining practical site experience working on a variety of small construction projects.

Realising that this was to be his career, David studied Building Management and gained an ONC, HNC and then CIOB qualifications, winning prizes from employer and colleges on the way.

When David joined a Berkshire based national Building Contractor he initially took a surveying role and moved onto contracts and project management. A move with his then young family to the 'South Coast' provided the opportunity to take on a variety of positions in a Bournemouth based and family run Group of Construction Companies. During this time, David had a very “hands on” exposure to company management and directorship duties, whilst adding to an increasing portfolio of commercial management experience.

David has 'delivered' a huge and diverse range of projects including the strengthening and re-levelling of the State Drawing Room floor at Longleat House, the construction and refurbishment of both 'prestige' and 'chain' restaurants and hotels, the construction of a new primary school and the extension and refurbishment of a five storey office block.

The broad range of services that Space Industries offer leaves little that David's last four decades of experience in construction cannot draw upon. His experience in the development and continuance of relationships with clients; ensuring substantial volumes of repeat business and this perfectly fits with the 'Space Industries' customer focused culture.

David is a keen dinghy sailor and is often found racing his Merlin Rocket around the waters of Poole Harbour and Bournemouth Bay or some other part of the country.

As Office Manager for Space Industries, Gena is able to use her wide range of skills and experience in information, business and project management to support the team and ensure that administrative processes seamlessly contribute to the efficiency and effectiveness of the business.

Gena considers herself very lucky to be working for Space Industries. “It would be hard to imagine a more dedicated group of people or a more attractive location. The office is a beautiful converted chapel, surrounded by trees and wildlife, and I enjoy being part of a team who all have the same first class standards when it comes to customer service. I would encourage anyone thinking of visiting us in Christchurch to do so – you'd be guaranteed a warm welcome! ”

When not working, Gena gets a lot of pleasure from hillwalking with her family and their Shetland sheepdog, visiting the cinema, practising yoga and, as you might expect with a background in librarianship, reading!

Matthew Dixon

Matthew Dixon

Technical Sales Manager

DDI: 01202 400904

Email: MDixon@spaceindustries.co.uk

Responsible for business development and sales within Space Industries; Matt gained early technical skills and knowledge working with a Hampshire based Storage equipment and Office Fit-out company providing storage and office solutions using the mezzanine floor as the basis of 'space creation'.

Early skills in customer service, and understanding the 'business process' were developed within two national tool suppliers, where Matt initially started in the warehouse, and quickly graduated to sales roles on the Trade Counters, and then his potential recognised, took on a Field Sales role.

Although originally using 'old skills' for creating business opportunities; knocking doors, leaflet dropping and networking, - Matt now uses technology and IT skills developed in more recent Sales positions, where he has learnt presentation techniques using 'Sketch-up' for both 2-D and 3-D visuals and drawings as well as increasing general awareness of Space Industries through website development and marketing.

Matt says the most enjoyable part of his role is the variety of customers and helping to make their ideas come to life.

Sam Chapman

Sam Chapman

Business Development Manager

Tel: 01202 400900

Email: SChapman@spaceindustries.co.uk

With a background in mechanical engineering, Sam's early career saw him move into a sales role as a representative for a shopfitting company in London and the Home Counties. This gave him the opportunity to market the company's products and services to a wide range of retail clients, from supermarkets to craft shops. Sam really enjoyed this varied role, which saw him finding storage solutions for tradesmen one day and fitting out pharmacies the next.

In 2007, Sam took on business development and account management responsibilities for a well-established mezzanine company. He won several prestigious contracts for them, before taking on the challenge of setting up a new division of a storage systems company from scratch.

More recently, Sam has managed and driven business development initiatives for storage and retail fitout companies covering the whole of the UK and Ireland. Previous experience helped him to increase new commercial opportunities for his employers. Sam puts his success down to cultivating open and supportive relationships with current and potential clients.

It was Sam's deep understanding of the importance of customer service and his knowledge of how to tailor the end product to individual requirements that made employing Sam a very easy decision for Space Industries. With the expertise to provide bespoke solutions and to give informed advice on projects, along with a passion for customer care, Sam has slotted very easily into the team.

Sam prides himself on choosing employers who deliver to a high standard of quality and who put their clients first. Sam says, “I really enjoy working at Space Industries alongside such a professional group of people. We have the same hunger and drive to deliver projects on time and to budget. I am finding it easy to sell services that are so customer-orientated.”

When not at work, Sam keeps fit through swimming and enjoys spending quality time with his family. Another of his passions is a love of cars – which is lucky, as Sam spends a lot of his working week visiting clients, so it's just as well he loves driving!

Ryan joined Space Industries as Contracts Manager in January 2015, following a number of years' experience in taking a design from conception to completion in a variety of shop fitting and specialist joinery businesses. Keen to deliver the highest level of customer satisfaction in terms of quality, time and budget Ryan is constantly working on his CPD and has recently completed courses in Prince2 and is working on CAPM Project Management training course – through the PMI (Project Management Institute), which will give him another professional qualification.

During the eight years working at the Christchurch based joinery company as a CAD Draughtsman he worked alongside designers and clients to create working drawings for bespoke joinery for both shop fitting and domestic/residential projects such as Fortnum and Mason, John Lewis, Thomas Cook and English Heritage.

The desire to see the items of bespoke joinery finished and installed lead Ryan to seek a role in Project and Contracts management. So following a move to a role as Site Supervisor he gained experience in the site procedures and the interactions and effect of his CAD details designs and details on the site installation.

Ryan says, “Since joining Space Industries, I feel that I have been given a great opportunity to show myself in the way I work and the way I interact with other people. We have a great team of people here; I have met some exciting new clients and have worked on some great projects. Every day is a new challenge and the work we do has taken me to some interesting places. You never know where you will be or who you will meet from day to another.

It was therefore a pleasant surprise to Ryan when he was asked by the directors to manage a prestigious project for the Royal Household. Following completion and handover of the project, he had the honour of being formally presented to Her Majesty The Queen at the official opening ceremony.

Chris Taylor

Chris Taylor

CAD Designer

DDI: 01202 400900

Email: CTaylor@spaceindustries.co.uk

With a career background in contracts and project management within the Office fit-out sector, Chris has been a major asset to the 'Design Team' of Space Industries since he joined in 2013.

After leaving Bournemouth and Poole College of Further Education, Chris joined a joinery company in Reading as an apprentice joiner, finishing and becoming and indentured joiner. This early knowledge and interest in woodworking gave Chris his passion to draw up, design and use those carpentry skills around his home and most recently to build a bespoke garden office that is definitely not a 'shed'.

In 2000, Chris decided on a change of direction and having trained in AutoCAD, became a member of the design team for a large London based interiors company, where he was specifically responsible for Building Control and Planning applications. Later, he also oversaw construction on site and ensured the projects were completed to a high standard.

Working his way up through the career ladder of various companies, from Contracts Manager to Senior Contracts Manager, Chris eventually decided in 2010 to devote himself full-time to providing freelance CAD services. These skills are complementary to other members of the Space Industries design team.

Chris says, “I am a detail man – I get a lot of satisfaction out of considering a project from all angles to identify any potential obstacles and offer my solutions to them”.

Katrin Stadler

Katrin Stadler – Dipl.Ing (FH), Architect, ARB Registered

Architect and Creative Design

Tel: 01202 400900

Email: KStadler@spaceindustries.co.uk

Katrin studied architecture at Munich University of Applied Sciences, and worked for a large Munich based practice before moving to the UK, where she has worked as an architect for the past 11 years.

Projects completed have ranged from commercial interior design assignments, through to prestige residential projects, with recent projects using a high level of architectural glass elevations.

Katrin is passionate about her work, and says that her skill is to "think outside of the box with problem solving situations" and that involvement at early stages, understanding people's needs, desires and aspirations is fundamental to a successful outcome and design.

Environmental considerations rate very highly and the need to consider both 'green' and 'alternative' solutions when taking a client brief.

Space Industries benefit from Katrin's experience on both the commercial refurbishment and construction projects and the growing number of residential developments being worked on.

David Hobson

David Hobson – MA BSc(Hons) MM Inst V

CAD Designer and Visualiser

Tel: 01202 400900

Email: DHobson@spaceindustries.co.uk

The starting point of every project is the 'drawing' and following an initial brief and sometimes a simple client's sketch - Space Industries always tries offering a detailed CAD plan, elevations or sections and sometimes a 3-D visualisation. David uses his 22 years of skills using AutoCAD programmes to produce these drawings and layouts, often having to spend time on site surveying and collecting vital detail and information to enhance the drawings for both presentation 'pre-contract' and for 'construction issue' when a project is being built .

Having graduated with a First Class Honours degree in 3D Modelling and Animation, David went on to gain a Masters in Creative Media, and regularly runs training courses on behalf of Autodesk in these disciplines.

More recently David has developed a passion for film-making and videography, and has used these skills in producing award winning short films, and recently becoming a Master Member of the Institute of Videography.

* Our professional working relationship with Space Industries has confirmed our initial impressions of their organisation being a very competent professional service *
