Businesses Encouraged To Develop Office Space Efficiencies During
Flat Property Market

WITH a flat commercial property market across the South,
business owners are being encouraged to develop their existing premises
rather than look to move.
As prices have stagnated over the past 12 months, Bournemouth-based
commercial interior design specialists, Space Industries Limited (SIL),
say business leaders would be better off looking to re-develop their
existing fixed assets, rather than go to the expense of a move.
Richard Wheeler, managing director of SIL, based in Bournemouth,
said: "Increasingly we're finding that companies who've had their
heart set on moving as business expands are deciding to stay put and
make better use of their existing premises.
"For the past decade, companies have invested in
their infrastructure, safe in the knowledge that the value of their
commercial property would go up, and so it was a safe investment. But
now, with a flat market, and little prospect of change in the foreseeable
future, companies are deciding to stay put. They want to save the cost
of moving, as well as the extra mortgage, and instead, look creatively
how to use every square foot to their advantage whilst improving the
‘face’ of their premises to better reflect the culture of
the business.
SIL says it has been called in to install mezzanine flooring
and completely redesign factories, showroom and offices across the South,
many companies creating up to an additional 30% of efficient workspace,
simply through the realisation of space efficiencies.
